Last Chance for Summer Fundraiser
Last Chance for Summer Fundraiser
September 30th, 2016 5-9pm
The Studio and Cheri Blackerby Gallery are pleased to announce our upcoming Fundraiser for September 30th 5-9pm to raise money and awareness. Come join the festivities and help us reach our fundraising goals so that we may better serve the wonderful and talented group of artists who attend The Studio!
The Studio is a fine arts program for adults with developmental disabilities, where over sixty other artists, ages 18 to 80, come to express their creativity. The Studio has been operating in Old Town, Eureka since 2000. The goals of The Studio are to help each person reach their highest level of artistic achievement and to encourage personal growth, self-reliance and self-esteem through the creative process. The work created at The Studio is never censored or criticized, and freedom of ideas, techniques and mediums is strongly encouraged. The freedom at The Studio is what makes the work created inspiring, original and exciting.
Unfortunately, our art supplies are not government subsidized and we depend on donations from the community. We are organizing a fundraiser and are asking for your help in reaching our goal. We would use this money toward our monthly art supply cost, while also having to purchase new items to inspire our artists: a new kiln, a screen-printing workshop and updated video equipment. We are reaching out to you, our community, to assist us in reaching our goals. By financially contributing to our program you will be building community connections and supporting local artists.
We will be having a BBQ, live music, beer and wine, a silent auction, three raffle baskets, live painters and more. Entry is free and all ages welcome!
Throughout the night there will be live painting by Pablo Rahner and Reuben T Mayes. You can buy hand printed T-shirts featuring winning design by Soodie Whitaker and stationery by three of our other talented artists.
5:00-9:00 Silent Auction and Raffle
Our raffle will feature 3 gift baskets containing products and gift certificates from local businesses - $2 per ticket.
The silent auction will feature artwork from local artists in our community and artists from The Studio. Featuring: Gina Tuzzi, Ryan Hurst, Keith Schneider, Mimi LaPlant, Anna Sofia Amezcua and many more. In addition, 5 local artists paired up with Studio artists to create the Chair Project collaboration series. Both artists painted on 1930's chairs and these too will be in the auction.
5:30 - 6:00 The Gallery Beatz
The Studio's band, The Gallery Beatz, has grown in number and repertoire. From new songs like Dirt Country Castle and old Studio classic, Motorcycle Ride, you can now own a 13-track album for $10. Come check out some art and listen to some eerie and delightful originals by The Gallery Beatz.
6:00 BBQ $5 a plate
Come eat some delicious, locally sourced food made by us and our friends! Homemade dessert will also be available for $3 a plate. Wine and beer available for $4, and non-alcoholic beverages $2
